Reasons to love Lemon Water!

"I'm in love, I'm in love and I don't care who knows it."

I'm in a love affair. I'm in a mentally and emotionally exhilarating love affair with lemon water.
It's just so delicious, hydrating, and fresh that I quickly chug about 3 cups of it in the first 10 minutes of my day. It's a good departure from my standard cup of joe and it's also a lot better for you! Here are just a few of it's benefits:

  • Skin. It has anti-aging properties and improves the overall appearance. It helps reduce toxins in your body, which gives your skin that natural glowy look. Its alkaline properties can actually kill bacteria that cause acne.
  • Nutrition. Not only are they low in calories, but lemons house various phytochemicals that act as antioxidants, and anti-inflammatorys. They are an excellent source of vitamin C, which boost your immune system and protect your body from nasty colds and unwanted sickness. Also in lemons: Calcium, vitamin B6, iron, and riboflavin are prevalent.
  • Alkalinity. Although it's an acidic fruit, lemons act as an alkanizing agent when they are in the body. Cancer cells tend to dwell in more acidic bodies, and consuming lemons helps to lower our pH levels.
  • Digestion. Citric acid in lemons is a natural preservative and aids in digestion. There is also fiber in lemons which is great to keep you full longer and helps keep you regular. Lemons help stimulate your liver to produce more bile, which is then stored in your gallbladder so you can digest more fat! Yeah!
  • Respiration. Aides in breathing and cases of asthma. The Vitamin C not only boosts your immune system but it helps with chest infections and allergies.
  • Detoxification. Lemon water aides the liver in its detoxification activities and also purifys your blood.

Oh, and don't forget the zest. It has lots of goodies like calcium, potassium, vitamin C, and fiber! Not only is lemon water delicious and great for you, but it allows makes me drink more water. More water = better skin + less room for other (bad) things I could be drinking/eating
